What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Fans like him for his fatherly personality and kind demeanor towards his family.
- His scene where he creates Pegasus became a meme.
- While this goes also on the other way, fans of the movie liked how he was more heroic than his mythological counterpart.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- The biggest criticism towards him his that he is barely anything like the mythological Zeus, and while this can be explained by the movie's target audience, it still leaded people to dislike him for two different reasons.
- The first is that they feel like the movie is trying to minimize his most un-heroic acts from the Greek Myths and, by extension, villainizing Hades who in the mythos was ironically less problematic than him. For example, Hades kidnapped only one woman whom he later became happily married, while Zeus is infamously known for having impregnated many women without consent. Some versions of Persephone's kidnapping even blames the titular event on Zeus, who gave the advice to his brother.
- Fans of Greek Mythology who like the messed up parts about him, would have liked it if he was shown in his more anti-heroic portrayal.
