~ Zavok, Sonic Lost World

Zavok (ザボック Zabokku), one of the Zetis and the leader of Deadly Six (or Band of Six Oni in Japanese Localization), is an antagonist originates from Sonic Lost World. He is one of the characters that appeared as Infinite's Phantom Ruby replicas in Sonic Forces.

In English, he was previously voiced by Travis Willingham from Sonic Lost World. Since Team Sonic Racing, he is now voiced by Patrick Seitz. In Japanese, he is voiced by Joji Nakata, and still continues until today.

What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]

What Do People Like About Him?[]

  • The voices of Zavok in English (Travis Willingham & Patrick Seitz) and Japanese (Joji Nakata).
  • Debuted in Sonic Lost World, Zavok, along with the rest of The Deadly Six, were meant to be SEGA's alternate company equivalent to its rival, Nintendo's Koopalings & Bowser but based on Japanese Ogres (While Zavok also has a draconic design akin to Bowser).
  • Becomes more cunning and serious in the IDW Publishing.
    • The design of Giant Zavok in IDW is more grotesque because showing his veins. It really took Super Sonic to defeat him.

Why Do People Hate About Him?[]

  • As mentioned above, his design and boss fight being a blatant Bowser derivative, particularly his giant form in his final encounter in Sonic Lost World. Audience already speculated that this character is a blatant Bowser copycat since Deadly Six's trailer.
  • Having no explanation why he wanted to destroy the world, also was treated as a joke in games, such as defeated by base-Sonic.
  • Zavok's character bio in Team Sonic Racing receives some backlash from the English fanbase because of the retconning him as Former Leader of Deadly Six, which the Japanese Localization and IDW Comics prove it false.
  • His oversaturation to the media, such as being playable characters in certain games, like Team Sonic Racing. While Zazz and Zor has some of the fans.

Trivia[]

  • Zavok is described as the "former leader of Deadly Six" in the English Localized Manual of Team Sonic Racing. It was proven false by the Japanese Localization and the IDW Comics.
  • The way Giant Zavok was defeated, in IDW comics, is that Super Sonic blitzing Zavok so fast that he failed to react appropriately to counterattack. The attack move is adapted by Super Sonic 2's grand slam animation against THE END-Possessed Supreme Titan in Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon DLC.
  • Zavok's current VA, Patrick Seitz had voiced a fellow Deadly Six member, Zomom. While his former VA, Travis WIllingham on the other hand, had voiced Knuckles the Echidna.
