Barry Allen
Barry Allen, also known as The Flash, is a superhero seen in DC Extended Universe. He is a minor character in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Peacemaker, protagonist in Justice League, Zack Snyder’s Justice League and The Flash.
He is a student at Central City College, a forensic scientist of the Central City Police Department, and a member of the Justice League who was struck by lightning, gaining access to the Speed Force and the ability to think and move at incredible superhuman speeds. He is also a member of the Justice League.

What makes him likable?
- Many fans love the scene in Zack Snyder’s Justice League where Flash using his ability to revert time to change the situation when Steppenwolf successfully synchronized the motherboxes and destory the earth.
- Some also likes his relation with his mother, especially in The Flash where he is eager to prevent her mother from the murder.
- In addition, fans also like how Flash’s eagerness to save his father from jail to prove his innocence.
- Some also think Ezra Miller’s portrayal of the Flash has some likable elements despite the actor’s controversy behind the scene.
What makes him hateable?
- Detractors critisized this version of Flash being too nerdy and lack of bravery compared to The Flash in the arrowverse.
- Joss Whedon’s Justice League make him too comedic and full of terrible jokes that brings the character’s portrayal down.
- Detractors also critisized Flash’s logic while time traveling to prevent his mother’s murder. While Barry believe if his mother did not forget to bought tomato sauce in supermarket so that her murder can be prevented. However, this solution is flawed as the murder may kill both his mother and father simultaneously. Flash should prevent murder immediately instead.
- After the entire event of The Flash, detractors expected Flash at least learn his lesson to not temper the timeline and let go the past. However, before he can return to the present timeline, Flash move the tomato cans onto top so that the camera can see his father’s face that justify his innocence. This resulted Barry ended in another timeline with Gorge Clooney as the Batman of the world.
What I doubt he may not?
- Many of the hate towards the character is largely because the controversy of his actor, Ezra Miller. Which for a large extent, drag down his reputation. But regardless of the controversy, he may be decent enough to be a base breaking character. At least not a scrappy.
Conclusion
- I classify DCEU Flash as a Base Breaking Character, despite having hatable elements, he also have several things fans love.
