This is my second Base Breaking Character proposal, my longest one probably, and it's a character that I've been thinking of for while. You're right, it's Aspheera from LEGO Ninjago! I've seen this character get a lot of praise and backlash and I'm here to propose her on this wiki! So, as Megatron once said, let the trial commence!
What's The Work?
LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, known as LEGO Ninjago from it's 11th season onwards, or just simply Ninjago, is a computer-animated epic-fantasy superhero fantasy series created by Michael Hegner and Tommy Andreasen and produced by the Lego Group and is based off the Lego theme of the same name. It is about a group of six teenaged ninja with elemental powers who fight against the forces of evil. Each season has a different season, and a different main villain for each season. The series has 15 seasons, with 4 pilots, 1 mini-series, and several shorts, with it being completed once the final season finished in 2022, but it has a sequel series named LEGO Ninjago: Dragons Rising, that is currently ongoing as of 2025.
Who Is She?
Aspheera is a major character in the LEGO Ninjago series, serving as the main antagonist of the Fire Chapter of Season 11: Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu and a major antagonist of Season 15: Crystalized.
She is an ancient Serpentine sorceress, who, after being imprisoned in an a tomb by Wu for thousands of years, reawakens in the modern day and plans on getting revenge on Wu, who she calls the "Treacherous Deceiver", for imprisoning her all those years ago. In her conquest of revenge, she stole Kai's power and led an army of Pyro Vipers to siege Ninjago City to search for Wu. Eventually her rampage reached the Monastery of Spinjitzu's hangar bay, where, after fighting and getting incapacitated by the ninja, she then banished Zane to the Never-Realm, basically make her responsible for the whole Ice Chapter.
After being imprisoned for her crimes against Ninjago, she was freed by the ninja to help them in rescuing Nya from her ocean state, but she later betrayed the ninja and joined the Council of the Crystal King, and gained new crystalized powers as a result. She later help invade Ninjago City along with the rest of the Council until she was frozen by Zane after being defeated by Kai.
What Makes Her A Base Breaking Character?
What Do People Like About Her?
- People like her design, viewing as cool and unique, with her Pyro Viper design and her Crystalized design being cool to some peop
- Ashleigh Ball, the late Pauline Newstone and Kathleen Barr all do an excellent job voicing her.
- Her powers of sorcery and stealing elemental powers can be considered pretty cool, even though it receives some criticism for copying a certain character.
- People like her cool fighting scenes, with her fight against almost all of the ninja and Zane in "Vengeance is Mine", being a stand-out
- People view her motivating and backstory of wanting revenge against Wu for imprisoning her in tomb for years can be considered interesting.
- Some people might feel bad for her being imprisoned in her tomb, due to her being trapped there for so long that she has become somewhat insane.
- Her saying "Revenge" can be considered pretty funny by certain people who can tolerate her.
- She becomes more tolerable in Season 15, where she gets demoted to Comic Relief and people poking fun at her "revenge" shtick.
What Do People Hate About Her?
- To get a MASSIVE elephant out of the room, her saying "Revenge" and "Treacherous Deceiver" can get old, tiring, and repetitive easily with many thinking she's one of the worst villains in the series due to her revenge shtick.
- She is hated also because she is copying many other villains in the series.
- She is a Serpentine, just like Pythor and Skales, and it's worse for the latter as she's implied to be an ancient Hypnobrai, so she gets some hate for copying Skales.
- She can steal other people's elemental powers just like Master Chen
- She is a sorceress just like Clouse.
- She also has a bad history with Wu and wants revenge on him, just like Morro and the time twins.
- Some people hate how she went back to become a villain after being set up to have a redemption arc early in the season, but was later abandoned and instead, Harumi was the one who got redeemed.
- Some people hated how she went from this menacing and intimidating villain in Season 11, to this comic relief character who isn't mean to be taken that seriously at all in Season 15.
