What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- One side of the fandom finds him endearing and funny, especially when interacting with Kabeyama.
- Some people do believe he deserves his place in Inazuma Japan and and they especially praise him for his role in the match against The Empire, where sacrificed his leg to pass the ball to Gouenji. Because of his performance in this match, some people believe Kurimatsu becoming the captain at the end of the anime was the right choice.
- Aside from the aforementioned moment of courage, Kurimatsu is seen as a good source of team spirit, giving his all in every match he plays in.
- Many people believe he's only hated for superficial reasons like his design and bias for fan-favorites like Max and Shadow, whom they would have liked to see in Inazuma Japan instead of Kurimatsu.
- He's a meme in Japan.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- The main point of contention surrounding his character is whether he deserves to be in Inazuma Japan or not. Many people believe he doesn't, especially since they believe he ultimately contributed little to the team, with the match against The Empire not being enough. With the reveal that he's Akihiro Hino's favourite character, some people accuse Kurimatsu of only being chosen for the team because of this.
- Furthermore, as stated above, many people would have prefered either Shadow or Max (two characters with more appealing designs and untapped potential) to qualify for Inazuma Japan instead of him.
- His design is considered unappealing by many.
- Many people find his Japanese voice annoying, including his verbal tic, "-de yansu".
