Tamaki Kotatsu is a character in the anime/manga Fire Force. She is a Third Generation Pyrokinesis, having the ability called Nekomata. She was a Fire Soldier in the Special Fire Force Company 1 but has to be disciplined by Company 8 due to her services with Rekka Hoshimiya, since he was one of the people turning innocent people into Infernals.

- Fans did enjoy her cool abilities, which gives her cat ears and two cat tails that represents a Nekomata.
- Many of her fans have enjoyed her Tsundere moments and her potential love for Shinra.
- While her detractors think her fanservice scenes are annoying, her fans like those scenes to be amusing and funny since its uncertain situations it happens.
- By the end of season 2, she begins training with Benimaru and wants to be strong enough to fight Infernals. She gets her own episode and some kind of character development, which shows more of her powers and her insecurities in the past on why she didn't want to fight at first. Fans enjoyed seeing the slight development and exploration of Tamaki’s character.

- While popular in Japan, she's has more of a negative reception in the West. Detractors view her to be a one-dimensional fanservice character who only exists just to cause fanservice.
- Due to her Lucky Lewd Syndrome which is turned up to eleven in the anime adaptation, most of her scenes revolve around fanservice, which easily annoys the viewers, especially in her fights.
- She defeats Assault by her Lucky Lewd Syndrome 3 times. This fight would've been more interesting if her Lucky Lewd Syndrome didn't get in the way.
- Because of this, detractors believe that her fanservice scenes even ruin important moments in the anime and her from having cool fight moments. This causes detractors to drop the anime due to how annoying it's gotten.
- Despite having cool abilities, she barely ever uses it and barely does anything to really help out in battle and constantly has the be saved by someone else in battle. Because of this, detractors believe that she has nothing to do with the plot.
- Detractors never considered to be a badass due to her fanservice and her need to be saved. While Maki had a couple of fanservice moments, she still has the title of badass and can fight for herself.
