~ Stolas' tearjerking but hypocritical retort to Blitzo before teleporting the latter out of his house |
Prince Stolas of Ars Goetia is one of two deuteragonists (alongside Moxxie Knolastname) of the adult animated black comedy/romantic drama web series Helluva Boss.
He is a demon prince who owns the Grimoire that I.M.P. use to travel to Earth for the purposes of their business. He arranges a deal with Blitzo, the boss of I.M.P whom he cheated on his wife for, that he will allow Blitzo to use the Grimoire if he comes over once a month on a full moon to have passionate sex.
He was voiced by Brock Baker in the pilot and by Bryce Pinkham in the series proper as an adult, and Leander Lewis as a child.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- He has a tragic past of being neglected by his father and forced to marry his abusive ex-wife, Stella.
- He is a very funny character who many fans love for his promiscuous and over-the-top camp gay attitude and numerous quotable sex-related lines.
- He deeply cares for and loves his daughter Octavia and admits that the only reason he puts up with Stella's abuse is to ensure that she has a normal life.
- He ultimately truly loves Blitzo, seeking to improve their relationship wherever possible, with them eventually getting together at the end of Season 2.
- He has a gorgeous singing voice courtesy of Bryce Pinkham and his songs, Mastermind, Just Look My Way, All 2 U, Stolas Sings and You Will Be Okay are considered some of the best in the whole show.
- He is considered a complex and very well-written character due to being equal parts flawed and lovable.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Many fans think the show constantly paints him as an innocent victim due to being in an abusive relationship with his wife Stella, which makes him unintentionally unsympathetic to many detractors. This is despite him coercing Blitzo into a sex for services deal and how he still cheated on Stella, which only further worsened their relationship.
- It gets worst in one of the episodes, "Apology Tour" where the episode paints Blitzo as the villain who never good at relationships while Stolas paints him as victim even call him "mother f*cker". It even had Blitzo apology to Stolas of how wrong he was instead it of Stolas apology to him of how her treat him.
- Despite trying his best to be a good father to Octavia and trying to keep his and Stella's relationship somewhat stable to give Octavia a decent life, he is far more interested in both hating Stella and flirting/having sex with Blitzo than paying attention to Octavia.
- When he wanted to take Octavia to Loo Loo Land to cheer her up, he brings Blitzo along despite Blitzo being the homewrecker and one of the many reasons Octavia's family life is miserable. He also spends the day flirting after Blitzo than actually interacting with Octavia. While this is called out by several characters on the show, most notably Octavia herself, many fans feel that the show still mostly paints Stolas in a sympathetic light and doesn't fully explore the perspective of Octavia.
- During the day of Azathoth's tears, a stunning meteor shower display that Octavia was excited for, Stolas becomes far too busy in settling a divorce between him and Stella to pay attention to Octavia. This leads to Octavia stealing the Grimore to travel to the stars herself only to inadvertently end up in Holly's Wood.
- Octavias fears that he would rather choose Blitzo over her, also come true. As he literally decided to sacrifice himself to save Blitzo from being executed by Satan and not thinking about Octavia when he believed he was about to be decapitated.
- He is seen as extremely hypocritical and doesn't own up or even admit to many of his flaws.
- He claims that he isn't classist and thinks highly of Blitzo and doesn't belittle him, but during several moments when the two of have sex or are traveling together, he fetishizes and belittles Blitzo's status as an imp. He later acts rather classist comparing his former and current lives after his exile.
- When he ends the deal between him and Blitzo, he calls out Blitzo that all the latter thinks about is sex, despite Stolas constantly acting sexual in most of their interactions.
