Slippy Toad is one of the major characters in the Star Fox franchise. He is the team's mechanic and known for his many inventions throughout the game that contributed to the team's creations.

What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Slippy is a very popular character in Japan, which is expected from a country where one of the symbolic animals is the frog.
- Slippy's fans have note that despite his flaws, he isn't a completely useless character, because his skills with machines and inventing advanced gadgets make up for his lack of experience with flying an Arwing.
- His inventions are the Landmaster which is used for ground-based missions and the Blue Marine for underwater missions are definitely useful and it's easy to tell that he was responsible behind their construction because he asks Fox how they are doing for him.
- He even made the Arwing withstand extremely scorching temperatures of Solar, even though it's not perfect as the heat can still drain the shield gauge, but at least it does not send the Arwing on a crash course and instead drops it to one hit left.
- Gameplaywise, Slippy's specialty is displaying the boss's shield gauge so that the players have an idea on how much more damage they have to do before they go down. Some players report that when they lost Slippy in one of their playthroughs, they were unsure how much the boss has left or if their weapons are even having any effect at all.
- Many of his fans find Slippy's character design to be cute while the rest of the team tend to look more on the cool side, which is a good contrast.
- Slippy has many hilarious moments, like his clumsiness with him falling face first in the cockpit in Star Fox: Assault and missing it completely in Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins.
- Even fans in America find Slippy to be much more tolerable post-64 which he gained a more masculine voice while still remaining a goofy character overall. Even the mediocre game Star Fox Zero has Peppy being stranded on Titania instead of Slippy.
What Do People Dislike About Him?[]
- Slippy has been notorious, mainly in the West, for constantly needing help and being chased a lot and is considered to be a very annoying character to deal with. His voice performance where he sounds a bit too feminine in the original Star Fox 64 does not help, although it does improve in later installments.
- A particularly infamous moment, if the player does not act quickly enough, has Slippy recklessly going at Spyborg in Sector X, despite Peppy's warning, which gets him swatted to Titania forcing the team on a rescue mission, which prevents the player from taking the hard route to Venom for the rest of the playthrough.
