“ | "The Balladeer". A long bygone title. When my spirit ascended to divinity, I felt as if I had existed for the same number of epochs as heaven and earth. Looking back, the existence of what once called itself "Kunikuzushi" appears infinitely small, and ugly. | „ |

The Wanderer, formerly named Kunikuzushi and also formerly known as the 6th Fatui Harbinger codenamed Scaramouche, is a supporting character in Genshin Impact. He was a major antagonist in "Inazuma - Sumeru Archon Quest" storyline, debuting in "Unreconciled Stars" event story quest. He was created as Raiden Ei's artificial puppet, before erasing his existence in Irminsul. After erasing himself from Irminsul, he reformed into an familiar looking boy with a hat in a different color, now as a Wanderer, adopted by Nahida.
He is voiced by Patrick Pedraza in English, Tetsuya Kakihara (柿原 徹也) in Japanese, Luyin (鹿喑) in Chinese, and Min Seung-woo (민승우) in Korean.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Audience adored him in first debut and shipping him with Mona in Unreconciled Stars. The events Unreconciled Stars made the most remembered line of how the Teyvat skies are fake.
- Even after reformed as Wanderer, he still retains his wild, jerkish attitude, meaning that he's not tamed. Though this received mixed reviews from the audience, audience still loved him being angsty puppet who does Vegeta's things, since he's established to be a morally ambiguous / evil counterpart of Kaedehara Kazuha in the story.
- He has a tragic past from being a throwaway puppet created by Raiden Ei. EI's neglectful parenting causing him adopted by the Tatarasuna official family, before Niwa was murdered and Il Dottore had him taken.
- Fans adore the allusions of musical motifs taken from Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody with him saying "I wish I'd never been born at all" that fits for the nihilistic puppet.
- His attempt to rewrite history only changes the small fraction of the history, omitting any records of him masterminding the fall of Raiden Gokaden but unable to change Niwa's fate. At least we got to see his backstory regardless.
- The Boss fight Shouki No Kami, having him ascended as a deity, created by Azar to dethrone Rukkhadevata because of his lack of faith. The boss has a mechanic with you fighting the artificial god with Nahida's small critter that emits rapid-fire projectiles that help you in first phase and second phase. In general, Scaramouche boss fight is considered to be more awesome and not as infuriating as La Signora's.
- He has a special dialogue when you brought Beelzebul / Raiden Ei.
- Upon release, he provides favorable damage output for an Anemo main damage dealer, providing better performance than Xiao before him (until Xianyun's release who could buff Xiao's Plunging Attacks) at the time, whilst providing an Elemental Skill which is useful for navigating the overworld with his gliding abilities.
- His Vahumana representative moniker, simply Hat Guy, worth a chuckle.
- El Sombrero from Spanish Localization is even cooler.
- He eventually made a Venti move by befriending a Simulanka-copy of Durin, based on the Mondstadt Dragon who have fought Dvalin.
- The voice actors captures him as an angsty boy at the end of the Shouki No Kami boss fight.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- The audience initially adored his proud villain characteristics until we get to see him turning 180 degrees into his soft-suicide attempt in erasing himself from Irminsul to spite Il Dottore and make up for the time he lost in misunderstanding. Scaramouche's redemption arc is rushed to make him marketable to be a playable character.
- Due to his femboyish apperance, some people think that he is just fan service for women
- While being adored for being a jerkish yet tragic villain, the Chinese audience despised Scaramouche's transformation because his crimes when he was a Harbinger which would present him as a laughably petty nihilist were too hard to present him in a sympathetic light through his Freudian excuse, such as the production of Delusion Factory that killed Watatsumi People such as Teppei, and orchestrating the fall of Raiden Gokaden and Yashiro Commission by tampering their blueprints.
- This also leads to Nahida becoming a Base-Breaking Character by proxy in Chinese fanbase because she chooses to adopt Scaramouche after he becomes Wanderer, while ignoring the crimes Scaramouche has done in Inazuma.
- Some people can find his actions hypocritical for not having filial piety to his own mother while being adopted by Nahida, when it is made clear that Raiden Ei left him at Shakkei Pavilion to free him without her interference in his fate, which seemed to be reasonable as Ei was forced to do so knowing she can’t end the puppet's own consciousness. Because Scaramouche chooses to erase himself with Irminsul, fans were disappointed because of Raiden Ei and Kunikuzushi's reconciliation went null and void.
- Some audience choose to adore Scaramouche but despise Wanderer for not having a proud troll and should've stayed as a villain.
- Some people even went as far as to threaten and harassing his VA's along with his pet, as well as going as far as to kill and abuse animals that look like him.
