Sayaka Maizono, also known to be a famous japan pop idol, which gives her title as The Ultimate Pop Sensation, is a character in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and its anime adaptation Danganronpa: The Animation. She is the first ever victim who got killed in the killing-game in Hope's Peak Academy due to her plan of killing Leon has failed.

What Do People Like About Her?[]
- Fans seem to like her relationship with Makoto. Even if she did want to frame Makoto for killing Leon, fans will still say that she is shown to enjoy spending time with Makoto.
- She has received sympathy of her planning on killing Leon. She wasn't in the best place in mind of when she wanted to kill Leon, she thought that her group friends were in danger or dead. Over the years, her popularity began to increase since fans are able to understand her motivate in the first place.
- Sayaka was the first character to ever die in Danganronpa and the first one to die in the main series, she had no clue of what a class trial was so it was uncertain of what would happen with her plan. She believed that it was the only way to get out of the killing-game.
- She spawned two memes:
- Her most popular quote “Like I said, I’m psychic” is a meme in the Danganronpa community.
- A redditor u/Meanforce1 notoriously created the “Church of Maizono” which is a “church” dedicated to her.
What Do People Hate About Her?[]
- Since she appeared to act all kind when being first introduced, her detractors give her the title of a snake because of her selfish plan in the killing and framing Makoto. Because of this, detractors believe that she never actually cared about Makoto and was only taking advantage of him so she can save herself.
- She is shown to not having much time to develop due to the lack of screentime. So, she never has the chance to develop her relationship with Makoto, and never had a chance to explain herself at the class trial.
- Many detractors believe that comes off as a bland character, and tend to find her boring. Detractors see her as a bland love interest.
- In the manga adaptation, she comes off as unsympathetic since she chose Leon as her target for a petty reason.
