Mephiles finds the infobox on this page admirable, as it's pretty much dead, as evidenced by how many, if not all sections, in it are as empty as his heart and the land he rules. Next thing you know, he might rule over it. Prevent this from happening by updating and expanding the infobox. ![]() |
Sally Acorn is a major character in the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics. She is an anthropomorphic chipmunk who is the leader of the Freedom Fighters.
What Makes Her a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Her?[]
- Sally is noted for how she is one of the most developed female characters in the entire Sonic franchise.
- Fans so love her for her steadily paced development of her relationship with Sonic and it feels realistic, and they deem her a perfect foil for Sonic. It's not uncommon for shippers to pair her with other characters, most notably Sonic.
- She is very much appreciated for her status as an action girl, who is a princess no less, and goes against all odds to keep the world and the universe safe and even turning the World Roboticizer on herself to prevent innocents from turning into robots, even though, she ends up being transformed into Mecha Sally and later becoming remorseful in the Post Super Genesis Wave era when she learned all the atrocities she committed as a robot.
- She has a very loving personality and is considered to be quite a positive influence on the people that she meets along the way.
- After Ian Flynn took over as the writer, he took it upon himself to restore her original personality as the strong leader of the Freedom Fighters and even if it wasn't a universal save, it was successful to say the least which had fans being more willing to leave her most jarring outburst from issue #134 which has her feeling remorse over her actions.
What Do People Hate About Her?[]
- Some fans find Sally to be a "Mary Sue", as she is often cited as being a flawless token character that steals the spotlight from other characters in the series.
- The Archie Comics Issue #134 featured one of the most despised scenes that solidified Sally as a base breaking character and gained a lot of detractors, where Sally slaps Sonic and calls him selfish when he prioritizes saving the entire world from Eggman over settling down with her and after a very heated argument with him, she runs away bawling. Fans are outraged over how Sally was written as she was coming across as selfish, whiny, and hypocritical. It doesn't help that the execution of the break-up scene was horribly written, and it ended up rendering many years of their developing relationship pointless. When Ian Flynn took over to help rerail her character, it ended up taking a very long time for fans to forgive Sally for this moment.
- A common complaint surrounding the character was how she was once one of the few female characters in the franchise to not wear clothes. It therefore became common to deem her as a form of "furry bait".
- Sally is also a frequent target of shipping wars, thanks to how her relationship with Sonic was one of the most developed in the franchise. In the meantime, Amy was seemingly established as being Sonic's love interest in mainline games at the time. This had resulted in shipping wars that occurred between Sonamy and Sonally fans.
