Roger Raincomprix, also known as Rogercop in his akumatized form, is a minor character from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. He is a police officer and the father of Sabrina Raincomprix, promoted to the lieutenant of the Parisian police force after his first akumatization.
He was voiced by Martial de Minoux in the French version and Christopher Corey Smith in the English dub.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- He has many likeable traits such as his comedic moments, fair assessments of the law and his endearing relationship to his daughter Sabrina.
- As Rogercop, he was one of the most rooted-for villains in the series due to being sympathetic for getting fired by André Bourgeois after refusing to punish Marinette for allegedly stealing his daughter Chloé's purse, and giving them both fitting punishments for abusing their power.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- In later seasons, he was derailed into a corrupt cop who causes conflicts with others over minor offenses and escalates situations to the point of causing several akumatizations. He has also become more incompetent at enforcing the law and handling akumatized villains, such as trying to proclaim to Captain Hardrock that she was under arrest while ignoring her superpowered ship, and continuing to yell into his megaphone long after Silencer stole his voice.
- In "Startrain" he commends Sabrina's willingness to serve Chloé, making him come off as enabling Chloé's toxic friendship towards his daughter.
- He was heavily criticized for his actions in "Qilin", where he arrested Sabine Cheng after the ticket inspector unfairly convicted her and refused to listen to her side of the story, leading to Sabine being akumatized into Qilin. While he was presented as only doing his job and being conflicted between following the law and sympathizing with a friend of his, he sides with the ticket inspector when he claims that she's lying about having a daughter (despite knowing Marinette well) and doesn't care when the inspector tries to deliberately goad her into insulting him to get her into even more trouble. Ironically, his actions in the episode conflict with his philosophy in "Rogercop" where people are innocent until proven guilty.
- Detractors believe that Roger was out of character during the events of the episode, and wished that it could've been another police officer rather than taking out Roger's likeable qualities to change his character into having an antagonistic role.
