“ | I apologize that our first meeting has to take place like this... It's just that, you're much like one of those animals with ears that perk up as soon as it senses danger in their environment. And given your combat proficiency, I would not have been able to gain an advantage over you if we were anywhere else in the world. However, you're now in the Night Kingdom, a familiar domain to the Masters of the Night-Wind. Hello, Traveler. I am Ororon, the one you've been searching for. | „ |
~ Ororon introducing himself to The Traveler, To Whence the Smoke Drifts |
Ororon is a playable major character in open-world role-playing video game Genshin Impact. He is a darkly dressed tall bat man of the Masters of the Night Wind /MIctlan Tribe, who is described as a strange young man. He temporarily joins with the Fatui in Capitano's Team to save Natlan from any forces of The Abyss perpetrated by Gosoythoth.
He is voiced by Nathan Nokes in English dub, Takashi Kondo (Who voiced Infinite in Sonic Forces) in Japanese dub, Liang Dawei in Chinese dub, and Seo Jung-ik in Korean dub.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Ororon has a tragic background that he was meant for the planned Human Sacrifice. He's born with an incomplete fragment of soul, in which it was treated as his disability. That still, Ororon has an adorable personality.
- Out of Patriotism, Ororon has no choice but to teaming up with Il Capitano, the reasonable leader of the Fatui who was once part of Khaenri'ah refugee platoon. Ororon's good judgement to Capitano earns the love from the fanbase for being a twist hero because he wanted to save Natlan from the threats of Gosoythoth, Reaper of the Abyss.
- His amusing interactions with his adoptive Grandmother, Citlali earns a reputation for Latino-American parent and child. Even better, Capitano bails out to prevent the grandparent and grandson conflict tension makes it more hilarious.
- He broke the trend of the Electro Characters in Genshin for being a tall male character, while the other male characters like Razor, Sethos, and Cyno were shorter than him.
- In spite of the controversy surrounding his skin tone, some of the fanbase accepted him for having an edgy design, and he could potentially rival Fischl's Chuunibyou tendencies, in addition to having her similar off-field Glass Cannon playstyle, but mainly focusing on his Burst.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Ororon's designs suffers the most criticisms from the Western Fanbase because while having a mythical motif of Camazotz, the common misconception that Ororon's name's comes from the Nigerian deity Olurun causes the character to be hated. Ororon's name is actually from the Māori word ''Ororongo'' which means audio. A more accurate way to understand this would be to translate the word to ''sonar'' or ''sound'', a reference to the way bats communicate, which is the inspiration behind Ororon's name. I would like to edit this part, because it is very misleading and encourages misinformation. Despite this, it doesn't erase the issue of his skin color, not depicted as accurately darker as Māori/Maya People like the fanbase would intend to be.
- There's also some fanbase saw Ororon's clothing assymetry is needlessly cluttered, like Chasca.
Trivia[]
- Ororon and Kazuha's Friend are both tall male characters with Electro Vision.
