Optimus Prime is the main protagonist of Paramount Pictures' Transformers film series.
He is the leader of the Autobots who was stranded on Earth following the Cybertronian civil war.
He was voiced and motion-captured by Peter Cullen, who also voiced the Bayverse version of the character.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Like most versions, Peter Cullen's performance of the character was praised.
- Fans liked his design in the Bumblebee solo movie and even considered it one of the character's best looks across the franchise.
- Fans thought he had cool action scenes, such as the battle on Cybertron or him killing Scourge.
- The flashback of him taking on several Decepticons before Ravage, Soundwave, and Shockwave cornered him is very cool. In fact Shatter and Dropkick were seen having front row seats to pinnign Optimus down and when they first appeared earlier in the film both pointed out to Cliffjumper he escape the Fall of Cybertron after he told the Autobots to reach out for allies scatter across the galaxy.
- Fans find him to be much more accurate to the source material than his Bayverse self, who was commonly criticized for being a sadistic murderer (only in the sequels, since he had his G1 personality in the first movie).
- The opening scene where he tells the Autobots to fall back is considered to be heartwarming since the Bayverse version in the sequels never showed (only in novels and comics) much care.
- He had an excellent character development in Rise of the Beasts from distrusting humans to becoming the Optimus everyone knows.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Detractors despise how Optimus hates humanity for no real reason. In almost all continuities, Optimus values all life, so this is completely out of character for him and also makes him come across as a racist.
- Detractors find his design in Rise of the Beasts to be a downgrade.
- Detractors still think he can be excessively lethal, such as him exclaiming that he'll take of Scourge's head or murdering countless Decepticons on Cybertron.

- While he is a Base Breaking character as of now, there's a chance his fanbase could become more unified after a future installment.
