“ | Tarnished one. Aspiring Lord of the old order. If you have known sin, if you grieve for this world, then yield the path forward to us. To I, Miquella, and my promised consort, Radahn. | „ |

Miquella of the Haligtree is a main antagonist of Elden Ring: Shadows of the Erdtree DLC, who was a former posthumous character in the base game prior before the DLC. He is a demigod, an Empyrean as well as being an elder twin brother of Malenia. They both were the children of Queen Marika and Lord Radagon. At some point, Miquella has gathered many followers like Needle Knight Leda, who is completely devoted to him to bring the Age of Compassion when Miquella ascending to Godhood after reviving Radahn as his consort.
He is voiced by Naomi McDonald, who also one of the voices of Female Tarnished in Elden Ring.
What Makes Him a Base-Breaking Character[]
Why Do People Love Him?[]
- Before the DLC release, Miquella is a young Empyrian pretty boy suffered by the curse of eternal youth, this resulting Mohg's unwanted attraction, making him tragic.
- He was voiced by Naomi McDonald, one of the voices for Female Tarnished.
- Miquella can be considered to be a Griffith-expy, albeit with more well-intentions.
- His Boss fight became a new contender to be one of the hardest bosses ever made by Fromsoftware after Orphan of Kos, and Slave Knight Gael.
- As described by Sir Ansbach, Miquella made a terrifying impression by recalling his memory where he was brainwashed at the time and watched a brainwashed Mohg, his master, committing any atrocities only to make him die by the hands of The Tarnished. After being freed from the charm, Sir Ansbach realizes in horror that he couldn't do anything to stop Miquella because of being charmed. This motivation made Sir Ansbach how he became a noble yet tragic top enforcer.
- To add an extra catharsis factor: Bring Sir Ansbach for Jolly Cooperation against him and his "Radahn" because he wanted to avenge Mohg.
- Like Morgott, Miquella is written to be a complex villain who was a genuinely compassionate fallen hero who wanted to bring the Age of Compassion if it means to control by manipulate everyone and stealing hearts of any dissidents.
- Starting from the phase 2, Miquella is the only boss that has an instant defeat condition for the player. Should his consort bearhugs you in second / third time, Miquella will brainwash you, resulting "Heart Stolen" message text instead of "You Died".
- The Tarnished also rewarded with a new gesture named "Let us go together" though.
- While the first phase of his final boss theme is a reprisal of Radahn's, his second phase is Miquella's original leitmotif, in which is majestic to be listened.
- There are some fans loved the second phase of Radahn, Miquella's Promised Consort. Because Radahn's aura has made him even more destructive badass as a meteor travelling in Light-Speed.
Why Do People Hate Him?[]
- Miquella initially was an ensemble dark horse for being a White Sheep Posthumous Character in the base game. Shadows of the Erdtree revealed that he's a fallen hero who had charmed Sir Ansbach & Mohg, of all people.
- His relationship dynamic between Miquella and Radahn is criticized for being a blatant homage of Guts and Griffith (Prior before Griffith sacrificing his own band & Rape Casca) while Miquella being an anti-villain Griffith-expy. For the Fromsoftware fandom who adores Knight Artorias and Slave Knight Gael as being Fromsoftware's Guts Expies, Miquella's story has become a criticized aspect of the DLC.
- As to be expected coming from Marika-Radagon dysfunctional family issues, many people reacted negatively to Miquella's infatuation with Radahn (Especially when the latter was resurrected).
- Miquella's villainy isn't mentioned nor foreshadowed properly in the base game. The closest thing in a prologue cutscene is that Miquella is mentioned to be "sinking into a shadowy darkness".
- Additionally, him being responsible of Charming Mohg only to commit horrendous deeds and letting him die just to make his own "Radahn" to be his promised consort causing him to be unintentionally unsympathetic. At the same time, the results made Mohg, being a rapist an unintended sympathy for the audience because of the retcon.
- This would explain why Malenia is sent to dealt with Radahn because Radahn reject Miquella's offer to be his consort. And Malenia, suffering the Scarlet Rot, made Radahn got inflicted with it. Keep in mind he wants to bring back only Radahn, not his steed, nor Mohg.
- There's the DLC Final Boss Fight "Radahn, Miquella's Promised Consort". In which, Radahn was brought back to be final boss, granting a mixed reaction from fanbase. However, Miquella was the orchestrator of his Godhood-seeking plan to bring the Age of Compassion, so he joins the fight in phase 2. In Gameplay, The Promised Consort has some of the movesets with rapid attacks, Bleach-like Flash Steps, absurdly massive AOE damage attacks, and being a Damage-Sponge HP, in which requires perfect dodge & luck.
