What Makes Her a Base Breaking Character?[]

What Do People Like About Her?[]

  • Many of her fans appreciate Mikasa's extreme loyalty to Eren Yeager. She has been protective of him since childhood and continues throughout the series, which reflects her devotion and love for him. This loyalty is seen by some as a sign of their emotional strength and commitment to those they love.
  • Mikasa's life story is deeply tragic, having her family murdered by kidnappers when she was a child and being rescued by Eren Yeager. This creates an emotional connection with the audience, who understand your motivations and reserved personality. Mikasa is seen as a character who deals with deep trauma by her fans, which generates empathy among fans
  • Mikasa is one of the most skilled characters in combat, often being compared to Captain Levi and even killing many titans than Eren Yeager and others. Since the beginning of the series, she has stood out as a formidable soldier, capable of taking on Titans with ease and protecting her teammates. His physical strength and strategic skills are widely respected by fans

What Do People Hate About Her?[]

  • One of her detractors' biggest points of criticism against Mikasa is her emotional dependence and obsession with Eren. Many of her detractors believe that she defines herself almost exclusively through him, which limits her development as an independent character. This submission to Eren is seen as a weakness and a waste of the character's potential.
    • As a result, of her detractors treat her like a threat to other popular ships mainly involved Eren Yeager. Many who prefer other ships, such as "Ereri" (Eren and Levi) or "Erehisu" (Eren and Historia), see Mikasa as an obstacle to these fan relationships despite having always shown deep feelings for Eren, which, in these fans' view, derails or weakens the other ships.
    • This is emphasized by the moment Mikasa kissed the dead Eren Yeager's head at the end of Attack on Titan, as well as the revelation confirmed by the cast and crew that one of the ending songs "Akuma no Ko" was written about Mikasa's relationship with Eren.
  • Although many characters in Attack on Titan undergo significant changes, many detractors point out that Mikasa remains practically the same from the beginning to the end of the story, though less compared to like Gabi Braun. Her calm, Eren-focused personality doesn't evolve much, which for some of his detractors ends up becoming frustrated with his emotional or narrative development, which leads to the perception that she doesn't have much complexity as a character.
  • Despite being a main character, her detractors argue that Mikasa rarely makes important decisions on her own, often being guided by the actions or desires of Eren or Armin. This leads to the impression that she is passive at crucial moments in the story.
