Mechagodzilla is the main antagonist of the Monstwrverse film Godzilla vs. Kong by Legendary pictures and secondary antagonist alongside Lex Luthor and the Skull Devil in the crossover comic Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong.
What Makes It a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About It?[]
- The fan see it as an massive improvement over the Scrappy Anime Trilogy version since it actually do what the character is liked in the first place and actually fight kaiju unlike that version that did nothing. Some people seen the final fight as the highlight of the film.
- Some people like it’s cool design due it being inspired off of the Terminator, AoE Dinobots, previous versions, Mecha-King Ghidorah spines and see it as an intimidating threat.
- People like it’s abilities like the Proton Scream, it's unique ability of strong hand to hand combat capacities compared to previous versions who has little or horrible close combat skills except for Kiryu, buzzsaws & tail drill and plasma punches.
- People like the idea of Mechagodzilla being an creation of Lex Luthor in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong.
- Mechagodzilla opened up the possibilities of what other Toho kaiju Kong will meet or fight like Mothra, Rodan or King Ghidorah, and other mechas appearing in the Monsterverse like Jet Jagaur, M.O.G.U.E.R.A., or even Mechani-Kong.
What Do People Hate About It?[]
- Those who wanted a more grounded and realistic Monsterverse as they saw Mechagodzilla "breaking the realism” of the Monsterverse as they believe humankind shouldn’t have the means and technology based on the previous films not advanced enough to create an mecha that can fight the Titans yet.
- Some don’t like it’s design comparing it to Bayformers despite Adam Wingard wishing to avoid those designs and used G1 Transformers as influence & AoD Dinobots and preferred a more rounder design like other versions.
- Its defeat in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong was anti-climatic when it was defeated so easily by having arms pulled and torn off by Shazam, Wonder Woman, Wonder Girl, and Supergirl effortlessly before being finished off by picked up by the Bat-Mech and snapped it’s spine which some felt an final battle would’ve been better instead.
