Marine the Raccoon appears in the Sonic game Sonic Rush Adventure, and is an explorer who wants to be the commanding captain of her own ship some day, but failed to control the ship on its maiden journey which then crashes, making her stuck on her home island of Southern Island until Sonic and Tails build the Wave Cyclone, where Marine goes on her first official off-seas adventure.

What Makes Her a Base-Breaking Character?[]

What People Like about Her?[]

  • Her bravery and determination, as she kept building her boat, the SS Marine, but her crashing the ship on its first sailing left her devastated until Sonic and Tails built a new ship, that being a sympathetic moment.
  • Though she got captured by Captain Whisker, when Sonic and Blaze were fighting the pirate, Marine grabbed the scepter when he wasn’t looking, and gave it back to Blaze.
  • During the battle of the Egg Wizard after Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega steal the scepter, and they almost lost as the vehicle was harnessing the Power of the Stars, but Marine distracted the two Eggmen by firing a ball of water, allowing Super Sonic and Burning Blaze to defeat them.
  • She's got character development near the end of the game and fans have warmed up to her afterwards. They even wish that she would return in a future Sonic game too.
  • Despite her wacky personality, she's actually a very kindhearted, friendly and selfless girl. In the IDW comics, she's a little more mature and chill compared to how she was in Rush Adventure, but she was still friendly, selfless and eager as ever.
  • Many fans also enjoy her chemistry with Blaze too and they think of her having potential of forming a trio with her and Silver as well.

What People Dislike about Her?[]

  • She kept wandering off despite Sonic and Tails repeatedly warning her not to, and after Blaze the Cat joined the crew after failing to stop the robotic pirates from stealing the Jeweled Scepter, she continued to annoy them.
  • Tried to stop the pirates and Captain Whisker, but gets captured herself and becomes another problem for Sonic and crew, so she gets reprimanded for her recklessness, having to accept that she is not a captain yet.
  • Marine has a tendency of getting grumpy and throwing tantrums when things don't go her way, making her seem extremely arrogant, snooty and somewhat pushy and fussy. Even the energetic, lively and cheerful Sonic, the smart, intelligent and excitable Tails and the stoic, mature and stern Blaze were bothered by Marine's arrogance, snootiness, pushiness and fussiness.
    • Then again, her throwing tantrums can be quite understandable and slightly excused since she's 7 years old and she doesn't know any better, so she has a lot to learn. Though she does see the error of her ways when she realizes that she doesn't have what it takes to be a captain near the end of the game, which made her develop maturity and willing to learn from her mistakes in return.
  • She is extremely scatterbrained, bossy, overconfident, attention-seeking, talkative but not knowing when to stop, and often recklessly charges into danger, which makes her seem like quite a handful.
  • She has a habit as being a leader-wannabe, even though she's not the main protagonist of the game.
  • When Blaze told Marine off for her brattiness to the point where she called her a nuisance, she didn't take it well as she calls Sonic, Tails and Blaze drongos. Some fans consider this to be an Alas Poor Scrappy or Jerkass Woobie moment and Tearjerker for her since they felt sorry for her when she got her feelings hurt. On the other hand, other fans find her being called a nuisance to be well-deserved for her to those who were aggravated enough by her being a leader-wannabe and a handful. You be the judge.
