Malenia is one of the major antagonists in Elden Ring. She is a demigod who is one of the two childrens of Queen Marika and Lord Radagon, along with her elder twin brother Miquella. She was once fought Radahn but was evenly matched. However, she was infected by The Scarlet Rot and having unwanted worshippers, in which Radahn gets infected after the duel with Malenia.
She is voiced by Pippa Bennett-Warner.
What Makes Her a base-Breaking Character?[]
Why Do People Love Her?[]
- At the promotional trailers, she is described to be a tall-valkyrie woman in which audience adores her at first sight.
- In the lore and cutscene, she was evenly-matched by Radahn after the duel, though Radahn got infeted by the Scarlet Rot from her. Fans described the duels between them were badass.
- Some said her boss fight is hard, yet awesome.
- Malenia has a sick design (No Pun intended), that her disabilities does not stop her from fighting, let alone swinging her sword. No wonder she's an intimidating figure and was admired by some folks.
- Malenia's scarlet rot plague also made her being a tragic story of an individual with mysterious disease. Not helping the matters that she was recognized as a Goddess of Rot (Although in-name only) by her unwanted worshippers because of being the chosen avatar.
- In some fanarts, Malenia is drawn without some squicky aspects and focuses for fanservice purposes.
- She was pitted by the recurring fanmade-character named Let Me Solo Her, By Klein Tsuboi (No, seriously. We're not talking about the Sword Art Online character) as the memetic worthy opponent.
Why Do People Hate Her?[]
- Initialy hyped to be a major antagonist and was praised in the trailer, Fans were disappointed when Malenia has been reduced into an optional superboss.
- It doesn't affect the game's endings for the Tarnished.
- Some said her boss fight is infuriating because of the gimmicks: (1) Life Drain / Life Steal Mechanics. (2) Ridiculous Damage to Vigor outputs. (3) RNG dependent moveset attacks, such as "Waterfowl Dance".
- Her detractors sympathizes Radahn implies that Malenia had a feud with his step brother, Radahn. It's revealed that in the Shadows of the Erdtree DLC, Malenia confronts Radahn, at request for her brother, Miquella, for refusing Miquella's offer to be his consort.
