Lisanna Strauss is a supporting protagonist in the anime/manga Fairy Tail. She is the sister of Mirajane and Elfman Strauss and is the childhood best friend of Natsu Dragneel. After the day that Elfman lost control of his magic power, she supposedly died during the incident. However, it was later revealed that she got sent to Edolas from an Animo. After she learns that the Edolas Lisanna has died, she decides to stay in Edolas to keep her Edolas siblings happy. After Natsu and his friends save Fairy Tail from Edolas, she returns to Earthland and reunites with her siblings and Fairy Tail once again.

- Lisanna is one of the sweetest characters in the series and is shown to be kind towards anyone she meets. Compared to Lucy, Lisanna is noticeably more wholesome, optimistic, endearing, and easygoing towards others, without feeling forced (like it's trying to make Lucy look worse in comparison), as Lisanna's writing and personality flowed naturally.
- She cares about many people such as Natsu, her siblings, and Fairy Tail in general, viewing her guild like family. She has a healthy relationship with Mirajane and Elfman, and even has a crush on Natsu; while Natsu can be a handful, Lisanna focuses more on his kindhearted nature and finds him cute.
- She takes a major part in developing Natsu's backstory which is shown to be a cute childhood relationship. She helped Natsu in raising happy as a child and they had a very wholesome family-like bond. Lisanna was a loving mother towards Happy and even cutely confessed that she has feelings for Natsu.
- While she is only a background character, she does help with Mirajane and Elfman's development as a character throughout the story.
- In addition, she made a big impact on Natsu's life since they were kids and it made Natsu want to keep his promises to make her happy.
- Examples include the scene where Natsu recklessly and impulsively created a friction between him and Happy, only to remember what Lisanna would want him to do, making him want to make it up for Happy.
- Another example is Natsu making a grave for Lisanna in case she died (even if the church already has one). In addition, Natsu placed the grave in the same place he and Lisanna spent time together, because he knew how much she loved the view of the sunset there, so placing there would mean Lisanna can see it as much as she wants while she rests in peace.

- Many of her detractors find her character to be completely pointless and annoying after her return since she basically does nothing but be a supporting background character.
- Many Natsu x Lucy shippers hate Lisanna because they think she is threat of the popular ship because of her history with Natsu, even though Lisanna herself is no Mary-Sue carbon copy of Lucy and that her writing never overshadowed nor trashed Lucy.
- Since she doesn't do much in the series after the Edolas Arc, her detractors say that she's taking screen time for no reason. Additionally, there are people who consider her useless, as she's not as strong as most characters and she never wins any fights herself even though it's clear she is trying (with just the writing not giving her much to do).
- Some detractors also think she was a more interesting character when she was dead, as it was very tragic, and believe that when she came back from the dead she doesn’t really have a presence. These detractors believe her death was just a complete waste.
