Kristoph Gavin is the main antagonist of the 2007 visual novel Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. He is a corrupt defense attorney that is responsible for one half of the Dark Age of Law and Apollo Justice's previous mentor before he was exposed as a murderer. Kristoph's attempts to continue the Dark Age of Law ended up failing and after being repeatedly bested by his arch-nemesis, Phoenix Wright, goes insane and likely spends the rest of his life in prison.
What Makes Him a Base-Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- He is one of the best and most competent culprits in the series, masterminding two murders that were so perfect, he could only be defeated by forged evidence and a biased jury system, plus he is more then capable of coming up with believable testimonies on the spot with zero contradictions and is able to refute any arguments that are used against him.
- Fans enjoyed his interactions with Apollo and Phoenix due to them working off each other well, plus they found him charismatic due to his cool headed demeanor and due to being always in control of the situations he gets himself in.
- People found the black psyche locks to be an interesting part of his character that is left up to player imagination.
- His breakdown is often praised as one of the best in the series due to the build up of it and the stark difference it creates in his character due to him being driven insane and losing his previous demeanor.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Fans felt that Kristoph's motive being that he lost a game of poker was a ridiculously petty motive for all his heinous crimes that made him seem less threatening and more of a cartoonish villain that is harder to take seriously as a result.
- People believed that Kristoph being revealed as a culprit of a later case in the game would have been better as there is little emotional impact when you defeat him as despite being your mentor, you hardly know him by the time of his defeat.
- People were disappointed at how shockingly easy the final boss fight against him is, with very obvious contradictions and an easy to spot perceive segment, especially when it comes after the hardest perceive segment in the game.
