She was portrayed by Ruby Rose in the first season, and Wallis Day in the second season.
What Makes Her a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Her?[]
- Her fans didn't mind that she's different from the comic version. Some preferred that was different.
- Her friendship with Supergirl during the Crisis crossover was considered memorable.
- She is liked for her heroic deeds and actions, which are not just saving people in immediate danger but also include her trying to fight for the rights of women and the LGBTQIA community.
- She is praised for her love toward her sister, and how she wouldn't give up on Beth all throughout the first season.
- She is sympathized with since her sister was kidnapped and later she found out her sister became an insane killer.
- Her fans praised her for killing August Cartwright, because he abused Beth and Jonathan.
What Do People Hate About Her?[]
- Her detractors didn't like how unfaithful she was to her comic version. This version for example doesn't use guns, unlike her comic version. The fans of her comic version wish the show kept that part of the character, since it made her different from Batman.
- Kate kills August Cartwright, by strangling him, which many hated for being something comics Kate wouldn't do.
- She is arrogant and her detractors found that annoying.
- She displays unnecessarily violent tendencies which was considered unfitting for a hero.
- In the second season she was replaced by Ryan Wilder as Batwoman, and recast with Wallis Day in the role playing a brainwashed Kate. Many of her detractors and fans found this dumb since the writers made a whole story about Kate's plane crashing and everyone thinking she's dead until revealed not to be, which was considered unnecessary and was only included because of the recast.
- In the finale of the second season, Kate doesn't bother to visit Alice in prison and instead just leaves after talking to a few friends and Ryan. This was seen as out of character of Kate, since she never gave up on her sister before. Kate even thought Alice wasn't changing, when that's false because Alice went through all of that trouble to save Kate.
Trivia[]
- ScreenRant ranked her as the second most likable main character in the show.[1]
