Victor Timely, better known as Kang the Conqueror, is the main antagonist of the Multiverse Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was originally a scientist on Earth from the 31st century who discovered the Multiverse, but unlike other variants of him, who got along together and shared different kinds of knowledge, he aspired to conquer all universes.
Eventually, Kang was exiled to the Quantum Realm by the Council of Kangs. With the help of his allies Krylar and M.O.D.O.K., he gradually established dominion over the realm, patiently waiting for the time to escape, which seemingly comes in 2026 when Ant-Man and his family end up in the Quantum Realm.
He was portrayed by Jonathan Majors.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Fans enjoyed Jonathan Majors' performance and like his over-the-top diabolical personality, finding it to be entertaining, despite his ethnicity not being comics accurate.
- He was a much more serious and deadly opponent for Ant-Man compared to Ghost and Yellowjacket, considering he killed a lot of Avengers' Variants.
- His past relationship with Janet gives him some emotional depth.
- It is genuinely impressive that he took over the entire Quantum Realm and built an entire empire from scratch with nothing but his starfighter.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- He came across as a rather bland mustache-twirling supervillain stereotype who simply wants to rule the cosmos for no reason. Many don't find him to be very fearsome or memorable at all, quite ironically thinking He Who Remains is scarier.
- His rantings about time come across as very confusing at best and cheesy try-hard shock value at worst.
- He felt out of place when pitted up against the Ant-Man cast.
- He did a horrible job turning Darren Cross into M.O.D.O.K. and many understandably find his evolution by Kang's direct hand to be the most laughable part of the film.
- He came across as rather pathetic for losing to some bugs (technologically enhanced or otherwise) despite famously bragging about killing multiple versions of the Avengers across the multiverse.
- His detractors think it's ridiculous and a bad kind of miracle that he was able to build an entire empire from scratch in less than three decades just by using his own starfighter as leverage; and turning said starfighter into his royal throne is cheesy on a number of levels.
Trivia[]
- His poor reception is a huge reason Kang was replaced after Majors got fired, and Doctor Doom is about to reboot as the new Big Bad instead.
- The allegedy leak draft of Kang Dynasty script was post online. If this is true, Marvel was originally plan to explore his character to be more tragic, which could change his Base Breaking status, but it most likely will never be canonize due to Multiverse Saga main villain role was move to Doctor Doom.
