Kaa is the secondary antagonist of the 1967 Disney animated film The Jungle Book, loosely based on the Rudyard Kipling novel of the same name. He is a python who tries to capture and eat Mowgli but always fails.
He was voiced by the late Sterling Holloway in the original and by Jim Cummings in its direct-to-video sequel The Jungle Book 2.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do Some People Love About Him?[]
- He is one of the funniest characters in the movie, having quite a few comedic moments.
- Sterling Holloway's performance is also one of the highlights of the movie.
- The song "Trust in Me" is a favorite among several Disney fans.
- He has standards as he is disgusted by Shere Khan's idea of killing out of spite.
- He shows that evil characters can appear as nice and don't always have to be outright.
- He is considered by many to be the evil version of Winnie the Pooh since they both share the same voice actor, the late Sterling Holloway.
What Do Some People Hate About Him?[]
- The main criticism towards him is that he was an entirely different character from his book counterpart. Whereas Kaa in Kipling's stories was one of Mowgli's closest friends who instructed him on several occasions, the Disney character is a villain who tries to eat Mowgli. This made fans of the original novel dislike him.
- His ability to hypnotize his victims with his eyes can come off as erotic to some people.
- He has spawned a fetish on DeviantArt where people draw or post pictures of him hypnotizing female characters and usually trapping them in his coils, which caused fans to be creeped out.
- His song, while interesting, can also be quite annoying and also creepy to some other people.
