“ | How does it feel, DIO? Having your worst enemy stand behind you while you can't do a thing about it... Imagine a guy who can only hold his breath underwater for a minute. He comes to the surface at one minute and... yank! Someone grabs his leg and drags him underwater again... Does it feel kind of like that?

~ Jotaro Kujo to DIO after he activates the power of stopping time. |
Jotaro "JoJo" Kujo is the titular main protagonist of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise.
Originally a Japanese delinquent, Jotaro is a member of the Joestar family and the third Joestar to carry the "JoJo" moniker. He would famously embark on a journey to save his dying mother and kill the Joestar family's archenemy, DIO. Afterwards, Jotaro would become a marine biologist and frequently make reappearances in the series, serving as a mentor to other Joestars such as Josuke Higashikata. Jotaro wields the stand known as Star Platinum, a stand similar to that of DIO's The World which allows him to stop time. He's also the son of Holy Kujo, the grandson of Joseph Joestar, the father of Jolyne Cujoh, and a descendant of Jonathan Joestar.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- He has a cool and badass character design, with his school uniform modified into a long coat, making him highly memorable.
- Like Joseph, he serves as a contrast sequel protagonist, being a cold and rude delinquent but has a gentle heart and a strong sense of justice and is very loyal to his family and friends.
- Despite being neglectful to Jolyne, he has undying love for her, is willing to sacrifice his life to protect her despite it would miss the chance to kill Pucci.
- His stand Star Platinum is considered one of the coolest and strongest Stands in the series, with his beatdown scene of "ORA ORA" very iconic.
- He has an epic and badass theme song which perfectly fits his personality.
- Although he often defeats his enemies with Star Platinum's brute force, he is also very intelligent and strategic in battle.
- Although he has a very brutal and violent fight style, considering many of his enemies are reprehensible villains like Forever, Steely Dan and Terence T. D'Arby, his brutal beatdowns to them are played for karmic satisfaction, especially to Steely Dan, whose long beat down is one of the most satisfying moments in the series.
- His final fight against DIO is very brilliant and epic, which is considered one of the best fights in the series.
- Overall, he is among one of the most popular, iconic and well-received characters in the entire JoJo franchise.
- Jotaro became so popular and iconic, he has become a stable mascot for the series similar to Dio.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- While his cold and emotionless personality are pretty cool to many fans, there are some fans think his personality is stoic and uninteresting.
- Some detractors think he is overwhelmingly powerful in Part 3. In contrast with other JoJo main protagonists who defeat their enemies who are much stronger than them by intelligence and strategy, Jotaro tends to defeat his enemies with brute strength and some abilities he suddenly gets out of nowhere.
- When Enya uses her fog stand Justice to corner him by manipulating corpses with Jotaro being unable to beat the fog, he suddenly sucks the fog into Star Platinum's lung to cause Enya fo suffocate. The ability to suck is never shown before and he never uses it again.
- When High Priestess devours him, he simply breaks all her teeth by Star Platinum's sheer force, though it took him a while.
- When Alessi turns him into a child and makes him unable to use his Stand, he simply beats Alessi down with his strength as a child.
- When he confronts DIO who wields the powerful Stand, The World, with the ability to stop time, he randomly activates the same ability of stopping time with no foreshadowing and it's never explained why, other than the fact that The World is the same type of Stand as Star Platinum.
- Similar to Joseph, despite being an extremely powerful hero in Part 3, he becomes much less competent in Part 4 and Part 6, often overpowered by weaker enemies (However, it is justifiable since he hasn't fought for years after the events in Part 3. Especially since Jotaro held himself back a lot to protect those around him, especially his family, which ultimately resulted in his death at the hands of Enrico Pucci).
