Jeffy Jeffy Francois is one of the three main protagonists of the plush channel, SML.
He is Mario/Marvin's adopted son who is known for being dumber than the other characters and regularly doing stupid stuff at the expense of his father.
He is voiced by Lance Thirtyacre, the brother of the creator of the series, Logan Thirtyacre.
What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- He has ultimately become far more positively received from 2019 onwards, given he has become more of a sarcastic teenager than a whiny idiot.
- In relation to the point above, his abuse towards Mario/Marvin has more recently been toned down to teasing than full-on torture.
- He is key to some of SML's more recent funniest moments, such as his fights with Bully or the "Daddy, do you see this Fucking Monkey?!" meme from SML Movie: Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- Lance Thirtyacre does a pretty good voice for Jeffy, especially when he's not throwing a tantrum.
- His backstory makes him a very sympathetic character, with Jeffy's 20th Birthday in particular helping to give Jeffy a genuinely sympathetic backstory.
- He is the only friend of Cody who hardly ever bullies him.
- He has roasted or punished other, more hated characters, such as the Huckerdoos, Rose, Nancy, and Tyler, which many fans were pleased with.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- He is accused of being an offensive ableist stereotype, especially during his first few years in the spotlight where he was a bumbling idiot who made stupid decisions for the sake of being stupid.
- He tortured Mario/Marvin in his first appearances and even in more recent years, and still has moments of being unnecessarily mean to him and getting away with it.
- He was a key factor in SML being demonetised due to his violent and behaviour. This resulted in SML being forced to tone down their adult humor and jump shift to other channels multiple times.
- He is the cash cow of the channel, with their being instances where he appears in a video solely to attract more views. Despite being the focal point of the thumbnail or even being mentioned in titles, Jeffy sometimes does absolutely nothing in these videos. This means that a lot of the time, he is included just to entice viewers to click, even though he contributes little to the content itself.
- Most of his humor relies on low-brow humor, such as fart jokes and picking his nose.
- He essentially became a replacement of Tony the Tiger, even sharing a voice actor in Lance, causing some fans to see him as a replacement scrappy. This is also further due to Lance openly stating he can't do Tony's voice as well as he used to.
- He's the primary reason why SML went downhill in 2016 and has become extremely controversy.
- Despite having a tragic backstory, some fans feel that it is just trying to excuse him on how he keeps torturing Marvin, doing bad stuff and rarely or never receiving a comeuppance for what he had done, since Jeffy got multiple chances of redemption and to better himself, but he never did that at the end of the day.
Trivia[]
- Fittingly enough, the creator of SML, Logan Thirtyacre, has gone on record to state that he has a Love/Hate relationship with Jeffy, admitting to finding him funny, but also saying that he regrets creating him and the only reason that Jeffy hasn't been deleted was due to his massive fanbase.
- Mario the Babysitter was meant to be his only appearance, but he was changed to a major character due to his growing popularity. It's unclear how his popularity would've been had this idea been kept.
