Henry the Green Engine is a supporting protagonist of the Thomas and Friends franchise. He is a green mixed-traffic tender engine who works on the North Western Railway and is the number 3 engine.
In Thomas and the Magic Railroad, he was voiced by Kevin Frank and Patrick Breen. In the CGI series of the show, he was voiced by Kerry Shale in the US dub and by Keith Wickham in the UK dub.

What Do People Like About Him?[]
- People view him as one of the relatable characters as he underwent boiling problems in his boiler and needed special coal until he had to be rebuild after his accident with the Flying Kipper, as well as being teased by small engines like Thomas and Percy.
- Adult fans of the show view Henry as a highly intelligent engine as he decided to teach the naughty lads a lesson by sneezing coal powder at them on top of the bridge. While it isn't the right thing to take revenge, most argued this was justified as they believe bad people shouldn't get away with their crimes.
- Another example is when he manipulates Gordon to pull the Flying Kipper, in which Gordon is determined to do the job he doesn't like in order to go back to pull the express.
- Even though he can be a bit grumpy and stubborn at times, fans tend to view him as one of the friendliest engines even when the series started to decline in quality, as he subverted most of his grumpy and jerkish traits in season 7 ever since, as well as season 3 permanently.
- He has a lot of awesome moments throughout the show such as "Henry's Hero" when he is willing to help Hiro pull the heavy freight train when Hiro breaks down and was willing to offer Caitlin the Flying Kipper in "Calm Down Caitlin" to let her enjoy Sodor while she can and tries his best to calm her down so she can't disturb the other engines.

What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- The biggest criticism surrounding him is that even though he's supposed to be a friendly and smart engine, several fans point out that his personality is quite inconsistent as they believe his personality is a lot like Gordon and James since there are times in the classic era where he acts somewhat jerkish to other engines like Thomas, Percy and Duck.
- He underwent a bad case of character derailment from season 13 to 16 as he got flanderized into becoming a cowardly engine who is too scared to do anything right. Many fans agreed that this role doesn't suit him at all as a result of the negative character change.
- His performance by Kerry Shale, while great as mentioned above, can sound too unsuitable to some people that think his screams can be annoying for them to handle and listen to.
- In the BWBA era, detractors didn't like how the writers did not give him a proper reason to move out of Tidmouth Sheds and be removed from the Steam Team to make room for Rebecca.
