George Darling is a supporting character in Disney's 14th full-length animated feature film, Peter Pan. He is the father of Wendy, John and Michael.
In the original film, he was voiced by the late Hans Conried, who later provided live-action reference and auditon for King Stefan in Sleeping Beauty. In the 2023 live-action remake of the same name, he was portrayed by Alan Tudyk.

What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Even though he does act forceful towards his children, he is shown to love his kids and dog Nana, further showing he isn't a bad person, as hinted by his wife, Mary whom he adored.
- Several fans find his reformation appealing as he begin to remember the same ship he used to ride in when he was a lad, which may indicate he grew soften over Wendy’s stories and knew she’s not ready to grow up yet.
- He does have some comedic moments whenever he's not strict such as getting his shirt front all covered with drawing and when he accidentally tripped on Nana which resulted in him crashing into a drawers.
- Hans Conried's dignified yet loyal performance was good for the character regarding his traits and to keep tradition of having one actor play not only Mr. Darling but also Captain Hook in the same film. Consequently, this is what led to Conried nearly being cast, but only managed to audition and model, as King Stefan in Sleeping Beauty.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Other people dislike him for being a hot-tempered and cruel father to Wendy, John, and Michael as he snubs at their tales of Peter Pan and forcibly tells them to give up their tales and grow up, which some people felt it’s a bit too much for them to handle his character.
- Him dragging and chaining up Nana to her doghouse can be a sign as animal cruelty to some detractors as they believe Nana did nothing wrong.

- He and King Stefan are the only two characters played by Hans Conried to be Base-Breaking Characters.
- On top of that, they, along with Queen Leah and Sir Ector, are one of the only four parents from the Disney Silver Age to be Base Breaking Characters.
