Genthru is the main antagonist of the Greed Island arc in the fantasy anime/manga series Hunter × Hunter. He is the leader of an intimidating team called The Bombers which contains only himself and his two friends, Sub and Bara. His goal is to steal the many valuable cards in Greed Island in order to win the game and gain the prize money Battera was offering to the players as a reward. Genthru will do whatever it takes to win even if he has to kill the many players in the game. He is responsible for spreading the Bomber rumor around Greed Island to terrify the players and manipulate them to gain an advantage.
He is voiced by Tsuyoshi Koyama in the 1999 anime. For the 2011 anime, he is voiced by Hiroyuki Yoshino for the Japanese dub and Todd Haberkorn in the English dub.

What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Though he isn't the most compelling or interesting character in the series, some fans view him as a fun antagonist for Gon and Killua as he represent the challenges they are going to face in Greed Island.
- His Nen abilities are pretty cool as it relates to explosions and the way he uses them is impressive.
- Overtime, Genthru has gain defenders where many argue that Genthru didn't need to be a deep layered villain or have a compelling motivation as he was simply needed to showcase the dangers in Greed Island and necessary for Gon's character development. He also serves to counter Gon's philosophy on playing the game fairly.
- Genthru's fight with Gon is liked by many as it showcases the lengths Gon is willing to put himself through while foreshadowing his destructive nature and showcasing Genthru's will to defeat him.
- Also, fans loved the battle for it being Gon's first fight in the series and won fair and square.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Genthru has faced a lot of criticism from the western fanbase for lacking nuance in his characterization and having uninteresting motives. Compared to the other villains in the series, specifically Chrollo and Meruem, Genthru doesn't have any charisma or complexity that the two antagonist have. Due to this, Genthru is viewed as the worst villain in the series.
