Hux Is determined to have the neo-imperialist junta conquer the galaxy, defeat the Resistance, and restore the fallen Old Empire.
Along with Kylo Ren, Hux is one of Supreme Leader Snoke's most trusted minions, though he secretly plans to take control of the First Order. However, when Ren kills Snoke and usurps his title, Hux is forced to work with his most hated rival and under the authority of Allegiant General Pryde, eventually leading him to betray the First Order and become an informant of the Resistance solely to ensure Ren's defeat.

What Makes Him a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Fans like that General Hux is an excellent manipulator because he is capable of coming up with schemes such as planning to kill his own father and keeping the murder covered for many years or fooling an old man on a planet to use his communicator to call the First Order before revealing himself evil and deciding to use the man's planet as target practice for Starkiller Base.
- General Hux is very smart in addition to his manipulation skills because he was capable of building the Starkiller Base and destroyed 12 planets, which left the Resistance vulnerable, kidnapping several kids and raised them to be troopers of the First Order, and promoted the development of the technology to track through hyperspace. As a result, he is very useful in Supreme Leader Snoke's plans.
- Some fans sympathize with his tragic backstory because he was straight up abused by his own father back when he was just an innocent little kid, and he was shown crying despite it being mostly subverted years later. Because of this sympathetic background, he is not a Hate Sink.
- His speech at the Starkiller Base is incredibly iconic and memorable.
- Fans like his performance by Domhnall Gleeson.
- Some fans overall love how dark he is portrayed at least in The Force Awakens.
- Fans enjoy his rivalry with Kylo Ren.
- Fans think that he had potential as a villain and might even could have been a good main villain, and think he was completely wasted.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Detractors don't like how he's based off of Grand Moff Tarkin.
- Detractors dislike his acting performance and there's even memes comparing him to Ron Weasley.
- Many fans believe that his comedic moments starting in The Last Jedi are forced and aren't funny at all, especially Poe Dameron calling him "General Hugs" and him falling for a "your mom" joke.
- Fans also think that this makes his characterization inconsistent because in The Force Awakens, he was portrayed very seriously while in the rest of the trilogy he comes off as merely a punching bag that was played completely for laughs.
- Fans were frustrated that his rivalry with Kylo Ren was never given a proper resolution in the sequel trilogy. His betrayal of the First Order was very forced because it wasn't built up properly. And many fans hate his laughable motive over helping the Resistance, which is to just have Kylo Ren lose.
- Many believe his death came off as pathetic because he was unceremoniously killed off and his character was basically wasted due to getting no real send off.
