Cozy Glow is the main antagonist of the Season 8 and one of the main antagonists of the final season of the 2010 animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the fourth generation of Hasbro’s My Little Pony franchise.
She is a female school-age Pegasus pony who is presented as sweet and cute, when in reality she’s a manipulative and power-hungry protégé of Lord Tirek, the final antagonist of Season 4, and she’s planning to drain Equestria’s magic, getting rid of Princess Twilight and her friends and to rule Equestria with the power of friendship.
She was voiced by Sunni Westbrook.

What Do People Like About Her?[]
- Her reveal was by far the biggest plot twist of the series and is seen as a neat one. The Fans liked those subtle hints over the course of season 8, like she’s looking very cutely towards the cutie mark crusaders after asking to help her a bit more, hinting her manipulative cunning or when she learned with them, and she’s looking a bit different at the symbol for “Magic” than on the other friendship aspects, disguised as her eagerness to learn, it symbols her power-hungry nature.
- Especially at a beginning with her façade of course but also as a villain, fans found her appearance, her sweet, naïve personality at the beginning but even her villain monologue and her evil laughter quite cute. With her appearance and her young age this façade just works perfectly.
- She’s a manipulative psychopath, who’s maybe having the most malice of the legion of doom, as she’s the one who proposed the destruction of the equstrian castle and would’ve even killed the mane 6, if Chrysalis didn’t stop her. Fittingly is another quote: “…to crush our enemys to dust. And laugh as they’re all scream.” No villain showed sadism more openly. Together with her complete contrasting appearance that was seen as shockingly surprising.
- She’s the only villain who really sees friendship as something important, even in a twisted way, but she was the one who try to bring the legion together to work effectively as a team.
- Fans liked her comedic moments, e. g. when she tried to go past a guard to climb Mt. Everhoof and how she’s raging when she fails or her mean jabs against her allies.
- She had a great chemistry with Queen Chrysalis and Lord Tirek in the legion of doom, as the former two are basically acting like her parents in the good moments, even when everybody notices that they would rather conquer everything in Equestria for their own.
- Sunni Westbrook was praised for her portrayal of the character, as she managed both the sweet façade and her malice true self fittingly.
What Do People Hate About Her?[]
- Detractors criticize her backstory, which is basically not existing. She literary appeared out of nowhere, there is not a single explanation where her power-hungry and manipulative nature came from.
- Her plan in season 8 raises some questions, as it’s unsure how Cozy Glow was even able to contact Lord Tirek in the first place, as he was a prisoner in Tartarus and when she drained all of the magic how she would even proceed from there.
- While normally the My Little Pony franchise is notorious for forgiving the villains too quickly, they didn’t even try in the slightest to redeem her, which doesn’t make any sense, as they forgave even Discord for all of his chaotic, wicked deeds, most notably his betrayal at the season 4 final, where he cooperated with Lord Tirek as well. Starlight Glimmer even tried to redeem Queen Chrysalis, after she captured nearly every pony in Equestria but a little child who didn’t understood the real concept of friendship is directly brought to Tartarus and then even turned into stone. Especially the first punishment wasn’t understood at all, was deemed as overly harsh and only showed hypocrisy by the heroes.
- Her lack of any backstory or redeeming qualities makes her one-dimensional.
