~ Captain Marvel's mantra. |
Captain Marvel is the titular main protagonist of the 2019 film of the same name and its 2023 sequel The Marvels, she serves as a supporting character in Avengers: Endgame and a minor character in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Ms. Marvel.
What Makes Her a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Her?[]
- Her interactions with Nick Fury are quite entertaining.
- She is extremely compassionate, having stood by the Skrulls as soon as she learned the truth regarding the evil Kree and their genocidal plans. She helps them find a home, and in hindsight, she inspires Nick Fury to create the Avengers Initiative.
- The novels Captain Marvel: Higher, Further, Faster and Captain Marvel: Starforce on the Rise make her even cooler and more lovable than she was in her solo film by fleshing out her backstory which was considered underwhelming on screen.
- She comes closer to beating Thanos than anyone else besides the equally badass Scarlet Witch.
- She is a great role model despite her arrogance, encouraging young girls to be ambitious and find their inner courage.
- Her dress at the party scene as well as her singing was beloved.
- Brie Larson did a reasonably good job with her all things considered.
- The sequel movie "The Marvels" despite its low income, gives her a little more of an improvement on her personality and also gives her some character flaws that doesn't make her somewhat overpowered a lot of the time. Making her become a little more of a relatable character to fans.
What Do People Hate About Her?[]
- She lacks the character development she had in her comics version. MCU skips her Ms. Marvel storylines straight up to become Captain Marvel. They even killed Mar-Vell in the film they introduced their character.
- Despite intent to be an feminist icon, movies barely show Carol suffering as a woman in 70-80 era. And her experience with her overprotective misogyny father is barely present in a movie compare to comics. (He appear in just one flashback scene) Which is why some Marvel fan claim she's no feminist characters at all despite what many Right-Wing YouTubers claim.
- She's often criticized for being a Mary Sue, being too boring for a lack of any genuine flaws.
- For example, she was able to reignite the Sun of Hala with barely any effort, further showing her Mary-Sue status. Compare to the comics version that she lose her binary from after perfrom the act.
- Her self-pride can be too much for some people, as instead of making her cool, there are times when she is seen as an absolute peacock. For instance, when Bruce Banner feared fighting Thanos, she claimed the only problem was that she wasn't there.
