Dr. Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Carter, Ph.D., also known as Captain Carter, is the deuteragonist of the Disney+ animated series What If...?.

She is an alternate version of Peggy Carter who was given the super soldier serum. She later appeared as a member of the Guardians of the Multiverse and The Exiles.

She was voiced by Hayley Atwell.

What Makes Her a Base Breaking Character?[]

What Do People Like About Her?[]

  • Fans think she has very cool action scenes.
  • Fans praise her dynamic with Steve Rogers, seeing is as cute and relatable.
    • Fans also sympathized with her when Steve was presumed dead.
  • Fans think her first episode was one of the better episodes of Season 1.
  • Defenders point out that she is one of What If...?'s smallest problems, blaming its failures more on incohesive writing.
  • Fans consider her to be a vast improvement to the Multiverse of Madness version of the character.

What Do People Hate About Her?[]

  • The main reason detractors hate her is that she is essentially the main character of the show, appearing in a third of its episodes, and detractors think the series should have focused on other concepts. Some detractors also felt her episodes weren't very interesting, essentially being retellings of the first two Captain America movies with no sufficient differences.
  • Detractors think she has insane plot armor, as she took on literal gods despite barely being more than an average human.
  • Detractors don't care about her dynamic with the Exiles, as she barely interacted with them yet calls them her closest friends.
  • Detractors did not feel for her sacrifice and were instead happy that she would never appear again.
  • Overall, she embodies the problems detractors had with What If...?, as she was an uninteresting concept for a character who overstayed her welcome and heavily relied on plot contrivances.
