Beldam is one of the antagonists of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. She is the eldest sister of the Shadow Sirens, followed by Marilyn and Vivian (up until the latter defected and Doopliss takes her place later on).

What Do People Like About Her

• Fans have respected that Beldam is a capable master manipulator who managed to start rumors about a legendary treasure that lies past the Thousand-Year Door and was able to get Princess Peach to open the box that contained the Magical Map that unveils the location of the Crystal Stars that are needed to open the door. She allies with Sir Grodus and the X-Nauts and tricks him into believing that the Shadow Queen is bound to the person who awakens her, when she is actually free willed.
• Fans also love how the Shadow Sirens battle (Beldam included) is fun to go through and it happens twice, and the second battle happens long after Vivian defects and they find it satisfying to see Vivian gets her well-deserved revenge on Beldam when she is used.
• Her verbal abuse contributes to making Vivian an effective sympathetic character as well as giving Doopliss a level of sympathy as well and she was the reason those two characters gained a fanbase, and it was clear that she was intended to be hated by the audience.

What Do Fans Dislike About Her?

• She has detractors who don't like her for being a complete jerk to Vivian and Doopliss, who are fan favorites, and her inability to take responsibility for her own actions and blaming others except herself has turned off many people, who considered her behavior too grating for them.
• The ending where she reforms is also questionable as she was never shown to get any proper character development nor did she come to the realization that her actions drove Vivian away, which her detractors felt that her being so easily forgiven, after putting Vivian through so much, wasn't warranted due to how rushed and unrealistic her redemption at the last moment was.
