Prince Adam, better known as the Beast, is the male protagonist of the Beauty and the Beast franchise. He is a prince who became a beast as a result of his selfish and rude behavior.
He was voiced by Robby Benson.

What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Robby Benson's performance is right for the character to fit his character traits.
- People appreciate his character development over the course of the film as he started from being a selfish and cruel prince who ended up being cursed as a beast until he learns to earn love with the help of Belle that made him a kind and caring prince.
- Most fans appreciate that he is the first protagonist to have a role that is also shared by a female protagonist, being his wife Belle.
- In Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, he overcame his hatred of Christmas when he learned that Forte is a traitor and apologizes her for the way he acted since he knew that everything Forte said about her is false.
- Furthermore, people appreciate his heroic act in saving Belle and all the servants by defeating Forte, even though he did mourn Forte (inspite of his true nature).
- All in all, he’s one of the well known Disney Heroes.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- Despite the narrative putting the Beast to be blamed for causing the conflict by turning the old beggar/enchantress away that resulted in his curse, some detractors pointed his cruel and unkind behavior is identical to domestic abuse early in the film.
- His personality got derailed in Belle's Magical World, where he got flanderized into being more jerkish so much that a lot of detractors have a hard time with how he was portrayed in the third film, agreeing that role that doesn’t fit him at all. Furthermore, this causes many fans of the first two films to take a hatred on the third film and consider it non canon.
