Below are a set of rules to follow when editing on this wiki.
- Base Breaking Character Criteria: When adding pages onto this wiki, the page must be about a character, and the character must be a contested in their respective fanbase. Please read the criteria and list of disallowed pages before making pages.
- Neutral tone and accurate information: When writing pages, be sure to keep a neutral tone, and provide accurate information to the character.
- No Real-Life people: This wiki only accepts fictional characters.
- No harassment: Do not personally attack or harass other users. We do not tolerate cyberbullying or the use of slurs to attack a user based on their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, disability, etc. Any acts of harassment will be handled by moderators as they see fit.
- No plagiarism: Do not copy and paste information from other wikis and/or websites, including the information found in infoboxes, and write the page in your own words. Any act of plagiarism will result in a block.
- No vandalism: Vandalizing a page, which includes removing significant chunks from the page or adding gibberish, will result in a block.
- Ban-evasion: If a user who was previously blocked is found to be using sock puppets to evade the block, then their main account will be blocked for an extended period of time, and the sock puppets will be blocked indefinitely.
- Recreating Deleted Pages: Do not create any pages that were previously deleted until you message and receive the proper permission to do so from an administrator.
- Edit-warring: If a disagreement occurs between you and another user, talk it out with them on a message wall or in the comment section. Continued warring on pages may result in the page getting locked and the users involved may get blocked. If a user continuously reverts another user's edits without explaining their reasoning for doing so, they risk getting blocked.
- Edit-spamming: Making multiple "fluff edits", small insignificant edits, should be done in one or a few edits. Adding one category per edit will be treated as edit spam and may result in the user getting blocked.
- Sufficient Content: When making pages, be sure that you add a sufficient amount of content onto them. Creating a blank article, one with limited information, or one that is just an infobox or category section may result in the page getting deleted on sight. Continued creation of these kinds of pages will result in the user getting blocked.
- Character Role Abuse: We are the Base Breaking Character wiki, so character roles are not our specialty, and abuse of them on pages is generally frowned upon. Making arbitrary edits to a character's roles in a work without explanation can be treated as vandalism and the edits getting reverted. Any user that is found to be continously abusing character roles or edit-warring over them will get blocked.
- Template Abuse: Do not abuse templates on the pages, as they are primarily for admin maintenance.
- Malicious Links: Providing malcious links to external sites will result in a block.
- Optional Proposals: This wiki allows, but does not require proposals to create pages, as it is primarily about characters that unexpectedly amassed big fanbases. Please read the criteria beforehand so that you are familiar with it. If one is unsure if a character qualifies, they can discuss it with others on the wiki's Discord or on wiki discussion. Optional proposals/removals are allowed too, and instructions are given here.
- No "Is X a Base-Breaking Character" polls: Due to how often polls of this nature get abused on similar wikis, leading to the creation of pages on non-qualifiers, and have been banned as a result, this wiki will also not allow these kinds of polls. Any polls of this type will be deleted on sight, and any user that continues to make them will get blocked.
- Page Layout: Articles are expected to follow a set of guidelines when they are made. Failure to meet the requirements will result in the page being marked for clean-up or be deleted if no effort is put in to absolve the issue.
- New Categories: With the exception of categories on franchises (by which there must be at least 10 articles on said franchise), users cannot create new categories unless they are given permission to do so by an administrator. If it is created without their permission, they will get blocked.
- Administration: Admins are required to have at least fifteen edits on their account and activity is strongly encouraged. If you are an admin and need to go on prolonged leave, then let another admin know.
