Barriss Offee is a major character in the Star Wars franchise.
She was a Mirialan Jedi Knight and General during the Clone Wars. A skilled Jedi Healer, Offee utilized her abilities at a Rimsoo on Drongar during the galactic conflict. She carried a blue lightsaber and was a practitioner of Form III: Soresu (later Asajj Ventress's two red lightsabers) and was once a friend to Ahsoka Tano.
She was portrayed by Nalini Krishan in Attack of the Clones and voiced by Meredith Salenger in the The Clone Wars.
What Makes Her a Base Breaking Character?[]
What Do People Like About Her?[]
- She had some cool and enjoyable moments throughout the Clone Wars series as a whole, and server her role in the show well, this is obviously before that happening.
- People liked Meredith Salenger's voice acting for her in The Clone Wars, and some even believed she improved her voice acting in Tales of the Empire, where she has a major role in it.
- Some people liked her sudden villainy in the Clone Wars, believing it to be very compelling and one of the main catalysts of the Republics fall and the Empire rise
- So much so that when her arc ended, fans eagerly wanted to see the conclusion of her character arc, which they are happy to see that they finally had their dreams fulfilled in Tales of the Empire.
- Speaking of Tales, people liked her whole arc in this series and found it to be very compelling and enjoyable, and they especially liked how she acted, saying that she truly redeemed herself from her dark past.
- People also liked how she expanded on the character of Lyn Rakish, aka the Fourth Sister, a previously though to be nothing character that previously appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi, even though this may be a minor addition since Lyn was expanded in the story of Barriss, not Barriss herself.
- Long story short, people think Barriss Offee has one of the best character arcs in the Star Wars franchise and want to see more of her after her uncertain fate in Tales of the Empire.
What Do People Hate About Her?[]
- To get an elephant out of the room, people hated how she acted in The Wrong Jedi episodes of the Clone Wars, believing her character was assassinated and changed out of the blue, even though she never acted like that before in the show, no foreshadowing or hints.
- Her detractors hate how her role in the Wrong Jedi arc of episode basically made her a plot device in order for Ahsoka to leave the Order 66, and survive Order 66, since the aforementioned Ahsoka is a fan favorite character and the fans didn’t want Ahsoka to die during Order 66.
- On the opposite side of the spectrum, people (especially those who grew up with The Clone Wars characterization of Offee) didn’t like how Barriss was redeemed in Tales of the Empire, believing it to be a complete character assassination, since Barriss bombed a temple that killed people and never showed any remorse for it, even if other detractors believe her fall to the Dark Side was character assassination.
- A bit of a minor detraction but still a detraction nonetheless, people didn’t like how Barriss ultimately fate at the end of Tales was left ambiguous whether she is dead or not, believing that all the character development she has was all for nothing since she’s most likely dead.
