Aloysius O'Hare or more commonly known as Mr. O'Hare is the main antagonist of Illumination's 3rd animated movie The Lorax loosely based off the Dr. Seuss book of the same name.
He's the mayor of Thneedville who sells air to the citizens of the town and is highly against the idea of trees as he feels it will become a threat to his business.
Despite being a made to be hated villain, he has a good number of comedic moments throughout the film, which many fans found hilarious and enjoyable to watch, mostly due to Rob Riggle’s over the top performance.
His defeat where he sang a mean-spirited version of Let It Grow and gets called "A greedy dirtbag" which leads to him flying out of Thneedville is considered to be extremely hilarious for the audience.
His tiny human design is often compared to some other characters, most notably Edna due to the fact that the design has many similarities. This leads to some fans making memes out of him because of this.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
Detractors criticize that his inclusion in this film as the main antagonist is considered pointless. Believing his only reason that he plays that role is to make The Once-Ler seem like an innocent person and making O'Hare the antagonist you root against.
Detractors also criticize that he lacks any interesting characterization, other than being a generic buisnessman who sells air and dislikes nature, making him come across as a really flat villain with nothing to talk about.
When he gets to the point where he starts poorly explaining to everyone around him on why trees are bad to Thneedsville, which allows him to get his followers on his side against Ted. This annoyed many detractors as it makes everyone seem less-intelligent than what they should be.
