Alois Trancy is the sadistic official of House Trancy and is the main antagonist of Black Butler season 2. He is the rival of Ciel Phantomhive and desires to kill him while also having a demonic butler by his side named Claude Faustus. Alois is a malicious and hateful 14 year old child who seem to suffer from anger and abandonment issues due to his horrific past relating to abuse and loneliness.
He is voiced by Nana Mizuki in the Japanese dub and Luci Christian for the English dub.

What Do People Like About Him?[]
- Alois has a very tragic backstory of growing up in poverty with his little brother. Originally known as Jim Macken, he lives his life as a pickpocket and thief in order to survive and takes care of his only brother, Luka Macken. Their parents are dead, which renders them as orphans and they are hated among the villagers they live with, leading Jim wishing they were dead as to express his bitter hatred for them. His wish, surprisingly, comes true when he finds all the people in the village have perish for unknown reasons with Jim finding his brother dead along with them. Jim is then kidnapped by servants of House Trancy and is placed in a child trafficking ring for the paedophilic Earl Trancy. He is constantly abused by Earl Trancy, who doesn't like him at all and hates looking at his eyes.
- Later, Jim would hear rumors of a fairy that grants wishes and after successfully summoning it, the fairy turns out to be a spider demon named Claude. Jim had no wishes to ask for but Claude says that he can be summon again if he has a wish. After successfully seducing Earl Trancy, Jim manages to get the old man into making him his official heir and was renamed Alois Trancy. Later on, he finds out Sebastian Michaelis, Ciel Phantomhive's butler, is the one responsible for the villagers deaths so he forms a contract with Claude Faustus to seek revenge on Sebastian.
- Alois has an interesting personality of a playful funny child but in other moments, he is shown to be sadistic and violent with tendencies of being cruel to others specifically his maid, Hannah. His personality contradict between his child-like and sadistic traits.
- He has a cute feminine design.
- A lot of fans find his mental issues very realistic for an abuse victim, which leads to large amount of sympathy and fans pitying him.
- Alois gets a tragic end to his story where he is sadly killed off by Claude, who is now seeking to eat Ciel's soul instead of Alois, and he realizes that Claude never cared for him and was manipulating him to capture Ciel's soul.
What Do People Hate About Him?[]
- He is despised for messing up the establish canon of both the anime and manga. He is an anime original with a story that either make no sense to some fans or just an unnecessary addition to a story that was near its end because at the season 1 finale, Sebastian attempts to take Ciel's soul as to fulfill the contract they made. Despite being a loose adaptation of the source material, season 1 had an intriguing end to the story but Alois showing up out of nowhere and revealing to Ciel that he help kill his parents makes no sense considering Ciel already knows who killed his parents.
- Despite his disturbing backstory, some fans are unable to sympathize with Alois due to his bratty and cruel personality making him less of a character to feel pity for. It even goes so far that fans dislike his unnecessary cruelty towards people with one being his maid, Hannah, in which he picked her eye out over a minor inconvenience.
